Play A Song

Phillip is 19 years old, born in Harlingen, Texas and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. He graduated from Los Fresnos High School as a Texas Scholar and Tech Prep on June 2, 2007.

He loves music from all walks of life. Growing up, he listened to music with his parents from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. Country music was a big part of his family. He has always loved music by George Strait, Clay Walker, Mark Chestnut, Kenny Chesney and Tracy Lawrence.

Many of his family members and friends have been and continue to be very supportive of him and his love for music and singing. His mom and her family loved to sing and dance. He used to listen to them all of the time and eventually was singing and dancing with them.

One of his idols at a very young age was Billy Ray Cyrus and “Achy Breaky Heart.” He knew the words by heart and sang on his aunt’s microphone every chance he had.

In January 2007, Phillip and his Aunt recorded a tape of a couple of songs that he sang in her music room in her home. When his dad heard the tape, he immediately contacted a long time acquaintance, Vance Greek of Dova Records and worked on a deal to start Phillip with recording a CD in his studio. Mr. Greek and Phillip got to work soon after this initial contact and he cut his first CD.

Phillip began his public performances with long time country band Crossfire as his backup and now has his own country band, the Phillip Thomas Kellogg Band.

Since his first CD, he has performed at many venues such as Wild Bill’s Honky Tonk & Saloon, Hillbillies, Raymondville Fourth of July Celebration, Bike Fest at South Padre Island and many others. His next performance in October is Wild in Willacy.
